Gang held for renting vehicles, selling parts, smuggling to Iraq
KUWAIT CITY, May 4: Police have arrested a Kuwaiti man and three expatriates for hiring cars from rental offices and selling them for a very low price, reports Al-Anba daily.
The daily quoting security sources said police acting on information that the Kuwaiti sold a 2010 model car costing KD 14,000 for KD 5,000 set a trap for him and caught him red-handed while selling a new car to a police agent.
During interrogation police discovered it is the expatriates who rented nine cars and, handed them over to the Kuwaiti.
It has also been reported the ‘stolen’ cars were either sold to expatriates for a low price, or smuggled to Iraq or dismantled and sold as parts.
Police have allegedly recovered all the cars — two had been sold to unknown people and seven were still in possession of the ‘thief’.
Caught with cables: The se-curity and safety personnel from the Ministry of Communications have arrested an Asian cleaning worker for stealing computer cables from the ministry, reports Al-Rai daily.
According to reports the man after duty hours was caught at the gate carrying a bag containing the cables.
It has also been reported the worker tried in vain to escape leaving behind the bag.
