15 absconding women among 23 Asians held in raid on ‘fun party’ Traffic police issue 145 citations, several cars seized

KUWAIT CITY, May 21: Securitymen arrested 23 Asians, including 15 women who were reported absconding, and referred them to Qairawan Police Station, reports Al-Rai daily.
The Asians were arrested while attending a noisy dance party at a stable in Jahra. Sources say when police got information about the party, they raided the stable and arrested all 23 merrymakers and later discovered that 15 of them had absconding reports filed on them.
Sources say some of the merrymakers were drunk and police found a number of local and imported liquor bottles at the venue.
Meanwhile, criminal Investigation Department (CID) officials arrested an Arab expatriate for selling drugs in cafes in Hawalli and recovered 1,600 narcotic pills from him, reports Al-Rai daily.
CID officials reportedly received a tip-off that the Arab targeted cafes where youths mostly gather to sell his merchandise. After monitoring his movements, police sent an undercover agent to buy drugs and arrested him during the transaction. The Arab was referred to authorities along with the contraband.

145 citations, several cars seized: In an effort to make the road safe for users, Hawalli securitymen arrested motorists who were driving in excessive speed (120 kms/hour instead of 80 kms), and issued violations against many others who endangered the lives of other motorists.
The officers issued 145 citations for over speeding, arrested three motorists driving without license, and seized five vehicles they considered road unworthy.
The traffic department appeals to road users to abide by the traffic rules and regulations, particularly motorists who cross red signal and put others lives in danger.
Meanwhile, in a recent campaign initiated by traffic officers from Hawalli against reckless motorists, unauthorized parking and vehicles parked in front of mosques, the officers placed wheel-locks on several vehicles and issued citation against their owners. The campaign is aimed at reducing traffic congestion caused by unauthorized parking of vehicles, which normally causes accidents. The campaign is expected to continue over an unspecified period.


Hacker steals KD 250: Police are looking for a hacker who stole KD 250 from the bank account of a Kuwaiti woman through the Internet, reports Al-Rai daily.
When the Kuwaiti woman discovered that KD 250 has been withdrawn from her bank account, she went to the bank and got a statement issued, say sources, adding “she then filed a case at Rumaithiya Police Station and submitted the statement.”

2 women harassed: A female citizen in her 20s reported at the Salmiya police station that she was harassed and assaulted by two citizens wearing the national attire about three days ago.
According to security sources, the woman was walking by the road with her friend, when she realized the two men were following them, and they tried to give their mobile numbers to the women in front of a grocery shop.
The men reportedly sprayed on them water from a bottle when they refused to collect the numbers and fled the scene. The complainant provided police with the registration number of their car, which has since been circulated at checkpoints for their arrest.

Huge material loss in fire: An electric short-circuit triggered fire in a house in Al-Doha area Thursday evening and though no human casualties were reported, the fire caused heavy material damages, say sources.
When the Operations Room received information about the fire, it alerted firefighters who promptly rushed to the scene and doused the flames in a record time.

Missile found in Wafra: Based on a report the Operations Room received about a weird substance found at a location in Wafra, explosives experts and securitymen rushed to the location, where they discovered it was a missile. They dealt with the situation accordingly. Meanwhile, the missile is believed to be remnant of the Iraqi invasion. The case was registered.

Sponsor assaulted: A Kuwaiti man sustained injuries in various parts of the body when he exchanged blows with three Asians in Kabad Thursday. One of the attackers was his employee.
The victim told police that a verbal disagreement escalated between them, and compatriots of his Asian worker who were present during the argument joined forces and assaulted him physically. The Asians fled the scene when they sighted police. However, a case has been registered against them in Kabad Police Station.


3 cheat taxi driver: A Pakistani taxi driver reported in Hawalli Police Station that three people cheated him within the vicinity Thursday.
He explained the suspects, who were in dishdasha (Arab national attire), waived him down as genuine passengers to Hawalli, and he was surprised when they took to their heels immediately they alighted from the cab, without paying the fares. He gave police the vivid description of the suspects, and they registered the case for investigation.

‘Jobless’ ends life: An Asian man committed suicide by hanging himself with a rope in Khaitan, reports Al-Watan Arabic daily.
 The man tied a rope around his neck, tied the other end to an iron bar on the roof of the building and threw himself down from the building.
Sources say a number of expatriates in the area called the Operations Room of the Interior Ministry to report the incident. Khaitan police then rushed to the scene and called in Criminal Evidence Department officials who examined the scene and referred the man’s remains to forensics.
One of the victim’s relative said the man arrived in the country quite some time ago to work, but his sponsor left him to his means. “Since all his attempts to find a job proved futile, he may have been forced to take the extreme step,” added the relative.
