Parliamentary minority dictator leads nation to destruction What is ours is ours ... What is yours is for both of us
KUWAIT CITY, May 24: The parliamentary minority seems to have misunderstood certain concepts as is evident in its attempt to practice dictatorship under the guise of democracy. People have started to uncover this group’s mistakes.
What attracts public attention in this matter is the fact that the provocative minority has been openly calling for amending the Constitution, while raising a slogan for its preservation. This only means the group works according to the principle, “What is ours is ours and what is yours is for both of us. If you do not share with us what you have, we will terrorize you”.
This is a principle from the past. People have realized the loud voice will only lead to destruction, which we see and live with every day. Under this mess, which is considered “tempest in a teapot” or “pre-death outburst” by the premier’s circles, the latter did not stop long at the statements of some lawmakers who have been calling for early elections. These lawmakers argued, “In all countries around the world, there are pro and anti-government groups. Everyone must accept the outcome of elections. When the opposition is a majority, the government must deal with the situation in a democratic way and so must the opposition”.
The circles added the government is not ready to engage in battles with the ‘air and talking mills’, as it is focusing on the implementation of recently-approved projects. This is pertinent since the people have called on the government to practice its role and use all the available tools to ensure the successful implementation of these projects. HH the Prime Minister Sheikh Nasser Mohammad Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah has responded to these calls. Both the Council of Ministers and the premier do not want to disappoint the people by focusing on issues raised by the crisis-provoking parties.
Obviously, this minority has found itself in a closed circle and has lost its balance, as it attempted to instigate conflicts over an issue that the government has been trying to resolve. Instead of realizing its goals, this minority has incurred more losses, so it has resorted to calling for early elections. Many lawmakers have outrightly rejected this suggestion, while others consider it an announcement of resignation from the political field by the group, which has been using a loud tone to pass its transactions, as well as the unplanned and unproductive employment. This group has benefited from many concessions it has made in the past. It has been trying to control the entire country, not just the government.
Despite its efforts, the group has failed to realize its objectives, especially its plan to dominate the ministries and pass bills according to its whims. In this regard, the government circles say, “If we want to develop the government departments, we have to put the right employees in the right place and increase productivity in these sectors. This is possible only through the evaluation of the performance of all government employees, because the disguised unemployment era has ended and the government will not spend more on employees who do not work or do not meet expectations”.
Some unproductive employees have been assigned in many sectors in the government, including the sensitive departments like the Ministry of Oil, petroleum companies, Kuwait Authority for Investment, military and security bodies. These employees do not perform their duties well, to such an extent that some offices have been transformed into ‘diwaniyas’ where they do nothing but talk and engage in leisure activities. If a minister or official tries to practice his administrative role in dealing with these employees, he will soon find lawmakers confronting him and sometimes, this leads to interrogation.
Has the terrorism period ended with interrogation? In response to this question, some ministerial authorities said: “Tomorrow is not far away and we will not rush things. We will see what happens. The important thing is that people want us to work and we will spare no effort in this regard”.
These authorities have found the attitude of the minority strange as it has been accusing anyone, who proposes amendments to the Constitution or dissolution of the Parliament, of disloyalty to the nation. How can the minority demand lawmakers to resign? Does the group allow others to use the standards it has utilized in the past on itself?
The parliamentary majority is elected by the people in the same manner the crisis-provoking and influential minority is elected. When this majority approved the five-year development plan, it merely expressed the people’s wishes and it had never been a barrier to the country’s development.
A lawmaker or even 10 lawmakers have no right to dominate the decision-making process in the country. We have a Constitution, which defines functions of each authority. The lawmaker has his own role and so has the minister. If 10 lawmakers can control the government’s decision, then they can dominate the entire decision-making process. However, all the constitutional institutions will not allow this, the circles added.
On threats to grill the prime minister, the specialized ministerial authorities asserted, “We previously witnessed a similar scenario. Everyone knows the prime minister practices his constitutional role completely and has nothing to fear in this regard, especially since the government intends to address the interrogation issue before the crisis-provoking minority takes advantage of it. After all, every ending is determined by God.”
