Many Iranians in drug charges released – MP Panel probes allegations
KUWAIT CITY, Aug 31: The Parliamentary Committee for Interior and Defense Affairs met on Monday to discuss MP Musallam Al-Barrak’s allegations that a number of Iranians facing drug trafficking charges were released.
Talking to reporters following the meeting, rapporteur of the committee Shuaib Al-Muwaizri said Al-Barrak attended the meeting and provided documents and information he obtained on the issue.
“The committee listened to Al-Barrak’s evidence and summoned those in-charge of releasing the suspects at the Ministry of Interior. Minister Sheikh Jaber Al-Khaled was invited to the meeting, but he could not make it,” said Al-Muwaizri.
Meanwhile, Islamist lawmaker Mohammad Hayef called on ministers of Information and Interior to stop “blasphemous talk about the companions of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).” According to Hayef, Shiite cleric Nasrat Kashakesh has insulted the Prophet (PBUH) and his companions.
In a statement, Hayef demanded that Nasrat’s lectures which are being aired live on a local channel called Al-Anwar TV be stopped immediately.
