1,850 DGCA employees ‘ready’ for strike action Al-Refai warns of repercussions

KUWAIT CITY, Sept 14: A total of 1,850 employees in the Directorate General for Civil Aviation (DGCA) at Kuwait International Airport have expressed their willingness to participate in the strike slated for early next week in protest of the alleged plan of the Civil Service Commission (CSC) to cancel their allowances, reports Alam Al-Yawm daily quoting Chairperson of DGCA Workers Syndicate Rajab Al-Refai.
Al-Refai warned the strike will paralyze operations because the CSC and DGCA have not taken any step to grant the allowances, which were approved in April. He said the syndicate will forward their case to the concerned international organizations if they face threats from any official.

He pointed out there are certain technical administrations and sensitive equipment that the military officers cannot handle in case they take over the responsibilities of the protesters.
He enumerated the control towers, operations, weather monitoring, information system, financial and administrative departments as major areas that will be affected by the protest action.
