Tissue boxes pulled for having Iranian flag Minister suspends Sheikh Al-Malek pending Scope TV verdict
KUWAIT CITY, Oct 26: The Minister of Interior Sheikh Jaber Al-Khaled has issued a decision Monday to suspend the services of police Major Sheikh Abdullah Al-Malek Al-Sabah until a court issues a verdict in the lawsuit filed by the owner of the Scope TV channel Fajr Al-Saeed and her brother Talal against Al-Malek and others for barging into the TV station and causing material damage, reports Alam Alyawm daily.
Al-Malek, who is Director of Search and Investigation Department at the Kuwait International Airport, had earlier denied his presence at the TV station. He claimed he was at his work place at the time of the incident.
Tissue boxes pulled: Minister of Oil Sheikh Ahmad Al-Abdullah discovered the Kleenex boxes which were distributed in various departments of the ministry carried the Iranian flag alongside the picture of the Kuwait Towers and promptly ordered the withdrawal, reports Al-Watan Arabic daily.
The minister has also asked for an explanation for the error particularly since the boxes were printed in the ministry’s printing press.
Room-mate accused: An Egyptian man has filed a complaint with the Hawalli Police Station accusing a compatriot of stealing KD 526 from his wardrobe, reports Al-Shahed daily.
The complainant was shocked when he found his money missing and pointed a finger of accusation at his compatriot who shared the room with him.
Personnel from the Criminal Evidences Department have lifted fingerprints to identify the thief. The compatriot has been summoned for questioning.
Drunk nuisance: Police have arrested a Kuwaiti man for consuming alcohol and referred him to authorities, reports Al-Dar daily.
The drunkard was taken into custody when he went to a restaurant on Amman Street, lay back on a chair and put his feet on the table to the disgust of other people eating in the restaurant. When the restaurant workers failed to get the man to behave, they called the police. When police arrived the man refused to go along and had to be forced in the police vehicle.
Lanka woman critical: A 35-year-old Sri Lankan woman has been admitted to the intensive care unit of the Adan Hospital. She is suffering from fractures and serious injuries and her condition is believed to be critical, reports Alam Alyawm daily.
According to security sources the woman was run over by a young speeding motorist on the Makkah Street in Fahaheel driving a sports car. The motorist has been referred to the area police station.
