Police release all Diwali Indians Families say very relieved by the release
KUWAIT CITY, Nov 8: All the Indians who were arrested for celebrating Diwali on Friday bursting firecrackers in Salmiya have been released, a source close to the families of the arrested members told Arab Times Monday. The Indian Embassy has not made any official statement on the issue yet. Phone calls made on Monday to concerned embassy officials were not answered.
The reason for the long delay in securing the release of the 18 Indians are not known. Some of the Indian families who were involved in the incident said they were very relieved by the release.
The arrests were made on Friday while hundreds of Indians were celebrating the festival of Diwali in an open ground near the famous Titanic Building. Eye witnesses said the police rounded up the area and made random arrests using rough methods.
