Kuwaiti students advised not to return to Egypt now Hawalli headmasters tour CCET centre

KUWAIT CITY, March 8, (Agencies): Ministry of Higher Education advised Kuwaitis studying in Egyptian educational institutions not to rush in returning back to Egypt to join their classes due to the still unstable security situation there.
In a statement to (KUNA), Undersecretary of Ministry of Higher Education Khaled Al-Saad pointed out that Kuwait Cultural Office in Cairo has informed the ministry that situation in Egyptian universities was unstable.
A number of protests had been organized in many of the Egyptian universities after the resumption of classes this week.
The midterm recess was initially supposed to end on Feb 12, but it was extended to March 6 due to the political unrest.
The protests, in which students and lecturers participated, called for removing universities’ presidents and changing universities organizing laws.
The Ministry advises Kuwaiti students not to return to Egypt till the Kuwait Cultural Office there affirms return to normal situation, Al-Saad said, noting that the ministry would do its best to make sure that their absence in that period would not affect their evaluation.
A number of headmasters of intermediate schools at the Hawalli Educational Zone were acquainted with the experience of the Center for Child Evaluation and Teaching (CCET) for learning difficulties.
CCET’s Executive Director Jadd Al-Buhairi told KUNA that the center hosted a delegation of 30 headmasters who were introduced to its services and activities.
The CCET’s activities include training courses and seminars for teachers, psychologists, students as well as their parents in order to prepare them on how to deal with children with learning difficulties, Al-Buhairi said.
He further added that the delegation toured the CCET center and looked at its classrooms, its therapy programs, its activities, as well as other services provided by the center such as a national hotline and a specialized library.
The delegation of schoolmasters expressed their content for getting familiarized with this pioneering experience, expressing hope to enhance cooperation with the center.
The Director General of Ahmadi Educational Zone, Chairperson of the overseas committee recruiting teachers from Syria for academic year 2011/2012, Talq Al-Haim, announced that 1,650 male and female candidates of various specifications applied to teach in Kuwait, reports Al-Watan Arabic daily.
Al-Haim explained that 659 candidates majoring in English language, French, mathematics, and physics, as well as Arabic and Sharia sciences passed the technical interview. He noted the Administrative Committee will complete their contract procedure, in line with conditions set by the Ministry of Education, to facilitate their arrival in time.
