Illegals urged to legalize their status before June 30 or leave Intensive campaigns eyed after amnesty ends

KUWAIT CITY, June 11: The General Criminal Investiga-tions Depart-ment has intensified its efforts, in coordination with the General Immigration Depart-ment and the General Immigration Officers and Public Security Department, to encou-rage the expatriates staying illegally in the country to take advantage of the amnesty period, which will end on June 30, to legalize their status or leave the country.

In a press statement Saturday, Assistant Under-secretary for Crimi-nal Security Affairs at the Ministry of Interior Major General Abdulhamid Al-Awadhi said the concerned expatriates can either pay the corresponding fine to legalize their status or leave the country without facing any legal problem, except those wanted by the law for their involvement in financial, criminal or administrative cases.

He advised those who do not have passports, civil ID cards or proper identification documents to visit the Personal Status Investigation Department and Computer Search of the Capital Governorate on Khalid Bin Al-Waleed Street in Sharq.

He explained these people will undergo fingerprinting for identification, so they can obtain travel documents from their embassies or consulates.

Al-Awadhi affirmed the concerned departments at the ministry will launch intensive campaigns to arrest those who have violated the Residency Law and those who did not report to the government will be ordered to pay fines and deported to their countries without any chance of returning to Kuwait.
