MoI asked to implement traffic laws and ensure ‘public safety’ Cabinet approves KUNA, KSE board

KUWAIT CITY, June 19, (KUNA): The Kuwaiti Cabinet on Sunday instructed the Interior Ministry to solve the current traffic crisis, in addition to the implementation of laws pertaining to parking violations, safety belts, and the use of mobile phones while driving, in order to maintain law and order and ensure public safety, says State Minister for Cabinet Affairs Ali Fahad Al-Rashed.

Al-Rashed made the statement after the weekly meeting of the Cabinet presided over by HH the Prime Minister Sheikh Nasser Mohammad Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah at Sief Palace.
 Disclosing the Cabinet also agreed on transforming some of the country’s seafronts into recreational areas for youngsters, Al-Rashed said the Kuwait Municipality has been tasked with overseeing the initiative, while the Ministry of Education is responsible for the construction of artificial grass fields in two schools for each governorate.

The Cabinet also approved the new board of directors of Kuwait News Agency (KUNA). Al-Rashed named the board members as follows: Ahmad Youssef Behbehani (Vice Chairman) and Sheikh Dr Ahmed Al-Nasser Al-Sabah, Nayef Abdullah Al-Rukaibi and Dr Haila Al-Mukaimi as members.
Sheikh Mubarak Al-Duaij Al-Ibrahim Al-Sabah is KUNA’s Board Chairman and Director General.
Al-Rashed revealed the Cabinet also a draft bill to restructure the governing committee of Kuwait Stock Exchange (KSE). He said, “The new lineup of the committee is as follows: Hamed Al-Saif - KSE director; and Dawood Al Sabej and Khaled Al-Rubai’aan - deputy directors representing the ministries of Commerce and Industry, and Finance respectively.”

 “The committee, chaired by the minister of Commerce and Industry, also includes representative of the Central Bank of Kuwait (CBK) Youssef Al-Obaid, Osama Al-Nisf, Anas Al-Saleh, Rabbah Al-Rabbah and Tareq Al-Shihab from Kuwait Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI), and the two technocrats Hisham Al-Otaibi and Ibrahim Al-Qadhi,” Al-Rashed added. The Cabinet was also briefed on a draft law related to granting exceptional wages and incentives to retired military and fire department personnel, which it passed to its legal affairs committee along with the Public Institution for Social Security for revisal ahead of the upcoming session.

The proposal includes ex-personnel who retired as of 1991 from each of the Ministry of Defense, Ministry of Interior, National Guard, and the Fire Service Directorate.
Al-Rashed confirmed the prime minister extended at the outset of the meeting congratulations to His Highness the Amir, and HH the Crown Prince, as well as the Kuwaiti people on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of Kuwait Independence. The Cabinet then reviewed the concepts embedded in the address delivered by the Amir to Kuwaiti citizens last Wednesday, scrutinizing the sublime meanings of the speech, in which HH the Amir stressed the necessity of protecting Kuwait, defending its national unity, and working toward upgrading and developing the Kuwaiti society, while aspiring toward making further achievements for the benefit of the country.
Further, HH the Amir stressed the continuance of making all necessary measures to protect the security and stability of Kuwait, and not tolerating anyone who tries to harm the country’s security and its national constants along with abiding by laws.
