No intention to increase power, water fees: MEW Many projects in pipeline: minister

KUWAIT CITY, June 19: The Ministry of Electricity and Water has no intention to increase the power and water fees, reports Al-Rai daily quoting Minister Salem Al-Uthayna.
Asserting the ministry does not decide on raising energy fees on its own, Al-Uthayna explained the issue requires a comprehensive study and a series of discussions among the concerned authorities.
On the alleged reshuffling of assistant undersecretaries, Al-Uthayna stressed the ministry has no plan to streamline its organizational structure until the end of this year.
He disclosed many projects are currently in the pipeline, while the implementation of others has started in line with the ministry’s plan to increase power production.
He said several new stations will be established soon, including the North Al-Zour Power Plant.
Asked about the suspension of some assistant undersecretaries involved in the anomalous 2007 power emergency project, Al-Uthayna revealed the Public Prosecution will summon the suspects for investigation in the coming days.
