KUWAIT CITY, July 1: Coast Guard rescued a five-member crew on board a wooden boat coming from Iran. This follows a signal the officers received that the boat had almost sunk. Sources said Shuwaikh and Salmiya Rescue Teams pulled the boat to Doha Port.Meanwhile, the Director of Sea Fires, Colonel Al-Mekrad thanked the rescue teams for their effort and recommended the wooden boats coming from Iran must follow sea rules and regulations by keeping water pumps in case of water leakage in the boats.
License withdrawn: Based on the orders of Assistant Director for Licenses at the General Traffic Department Brigadier Ehsan Al-Ewaish, an individual showing off his sport car to jeopardize his life and the lives of other road users after a marriage party was arrested when many motorists reportedly crossed the red traffic signal along Arabian Gulf Street to watch the show.
Sources said traffic police pursued the motorist and withdrew his license, and he was later taken into custody. Passersby appreciated Al-Ewaish for the act.
3 held for ‘kidnappings’: The Farwaniya police have arrested a gang of Asians for kidnapping unsuspecting maids and forcing them into prostitution, reports Al-Shahed daily.
According to security sources police received information that three men - one of them a taxi driver — were involved in kidnapping maids.
The same sources said the taxi driver and the other two men lured the maids that they can find work with good salary and after winning their confidence took the maids to an apartment in Hassawi and sold them to pimps.
The pimps then locked the maids into cage-like apartments with metal doors and forced them into prostitution.
Acting on information securitymen raided the apartment and arrested two men while the third escaped.
Police are said to have rescued scores of maids from the apartment. The maids and the suspects have been referred to the concerned authorities.
Man cheated of KD 64K: Police are looking for an unidentified Kuwaiti man for breach of trust and cheating his compatriot friend to the tune of KD 64,000, reports Al-Watan Arabic daily.
According to a complaint filed by the Kuwaiti with the Sabahiya Police Station, the suspect lured the victim to join his business venture and the latter fell for the trap and parted with the money.
However, after a while he discovered he had been cheated because he failed to see any business activity.
