Female employees dominate MoE 77.5 pc of total workforce: statistics KUWAIT CITY, July 8: Women now constitute 77.5 percent of the total workforce in the Education Ministry, according to recent statistics. The domination of women employees in the ministry has been long coming as almost all administrative and teaching posts are taken up by women and even two female ministers headed it consecutively, reports Al-Watan Arabic daily.
The Ministry of Education employs around 76,630 workers altogether, of which 59,456 are women. Out of this, 45,727 are Kuwaitis and 12,729 are expatriates. Based on the above, the percentage of Kuwaiti women working in the ministry is 59.6 percent of the total workforce, a far cry from their male counterparts who make up just 10.8 percent of the total. There are 8,286 Kuwaiti male workers, which is 45 percent of the total 18,174 male workers in the ministry. There are 9,888 non-Kuwaiti men in the ministry, which is 12.9 percent of the total workforce. Statistics also revealed that women had the larger stake in the leadership roles in the ministry. Out of the six zonal directors, four are women, while three out of the total nine assistant undersecretaries are women. Also, the highest position after the minister is that of the undersecretary which is currently being occupied by a woman, Tomadher Al-Sedrawi.
