Lebanese girl dies in elevator; Filipina woman robbed in bus Kuwaiti Daughter missing KUWAIT CITY, July 13: Two Asians were apprehended by patrol officers with a quantity of iron rods and other building materials in their possession in Jleeb Shuyoukh area. According to sources, security operatives had ordered the suspects to stop for checking after being spotted in a truck late at night and the aforementioned items were discovered, as they conducted a search inside the vehicle. The suspects were referred to the relevant authority.
‘Children kidnapped’: A Kuwaiti woman filed a case against her ex-husband in Oyoun police station saying the man kidnapped their children from her home. A case was registered for investigation.
Daughter missing: A Kuwaiti citizen registered a case at a police station in Jahra and reported that his daughter left home and declined to come back. Police have since collected details of the girl for circulation at various checkpoints.
Maid attempts suicide: A Filipino housemaid tried to commit suicide by slashing her arteries inside her sponsor’s house in Ferdous area. Paramedics accompanied securitymen to the scene after a distress call the sponsor placed to the Operations Room to report the incident, and the woman was taken to the Farwaniya Hospital for medical attention. A case has since been registered against her.
Motorists fight: A Kuwaiti citizen in his early 30s fought with another citizen who hit his car from the rear in Farwaniya area, resulting in injuries to the second party. Based on this report, a rescue team rushed to the scene and dealt with the situation accordingly. In the meantime, the injured person was taken to Farwaniya Hospital for medical care, and the other person was taken into custody. A case was registered.
Bedoun held for drugs: A Bedoun man was apprehended by securitymen on patrol in Sabahiya area after he aroused suspicion of officers, based on the erratic manner he was driving, and they conducted an intensive search inside his car and found drugs. Also, the officers discerned he was high on drug as they questioned him. He was referred to the relevant authority.
Drug pills seized from prison: In a surprise campaign by security operatives at the Central Prison, 7 narcotic pills and 5 mobile phones with recharge cards were retrieved from various cells. The suspects, with the items, have since been referred to the concerned authority for investigation to determine how they were smuggled into the cells.
4 juveniles hurt in fight: Four juveniles were severely injured during a clash among a group of seven individuals in Abdullah Al-Mubarak area. Acting on information, securitymen accompanied paramedics to the scene and the injured people were referred to the Farwaniya Hospital while the other members of the feuding party were taken to a police station. A case was registered.
KD 290 stolen from home: A 34-year-old citizen told policemen in Sulaibikhat police station that thieves raided his home while he was outside with his family and stole KD 290 cash. The man said he was surprised when he came home and discovered the front door had been broke open, and with the aforementioned amount missing. Fingerprints were lifted from the scene to trail the suspects. A case has since been registered.
Police arrest citizen: A citizen in his 30s was arrested by securitymen on patrol in Kabad area for his involvement in a financial offense. He was referred to the relevant authority for necessary action.
Drunkards arrested: A drunken Asian expatriate was referred to the concerned authority after passers by reported to the Operations Room that an individual had been found unconscious along Mohammed Bin Al-Qassem Street and a rescue team rushed to the scene only to discover he was heavily intoxicated. A case has since been registered against him.
Meanwhile, a 20-year-old drunken Kuwaiti was found unconscious inside a car in Farwaniya. Acting on report, a team of securitymen and paramedics rushed to the scene. Sources said a bottle of imported liquor was found beside the citizen. He was referred to the Farwaniya police station.
Police arrest 2 men: Police have taken into custody two men-an Egyptian and an Asian-for allegedly killing an elderly Kuwaiti man 20 days ago by poisoning his food and then stealing money and jewelry from his home, reports Al-Watan Arabic daily. A police source said at the time of death, it was believed the man died of natural causes since he was living alone and his family said they had heard nothing about him for over a year. Police arrested one of the killers after they discovered he was using the cell phone belonging to the dead man. The killer admitted to the charge and gave police the name of his partner. They admitted to putting rat poison into the man’s food. It has been reported the men were carrying out maintenance work at the home of the victim.
Dud cheques issued: Police are looking for a Kuwaiti man for issuing a dud cheque for KD 91,000 to an Iranian woman - the cost of purchase of real estate, reports Al-Shahed daily. A case has been registered at the Al-Salam Police Station. Meanwhile, police are looking for a Kuwaiti man for issuing a dud cheque for KD 7,500 to a member of ruling family, reports Al-Shahed daily. A case has been registered at the Fahaheel Police Station.
Contractor cheats man: Police are looking for a Lebanese contractor for cheating a Kuwaiti man, reports Al-Shahed daily. According to reports the man took KD 4,800 from the victim as advance payment towards the renovation of his home in Surra and disappeared with the money.
Filipina assaulted, robbed: Police are looking for two persons for assaulting a Filipino woman inside a public transport bus and stealing her handbag containing golden bracelets and two cell phones, reports Al-Anba daily. The victim has submitted a medical report which shows a nine-centimeter cut on her head. A case has been registered at the Shamiya Police Station.
Girl dies in elevator: An 8-year-old Lebanese girl reportedly fell to her death from the 15th floor of a residential building, reports Al-Anba daily. According to reports the victim had gone to buy yoghurt from a grocery and when she did not return for a long time, the worried parents went looking for her but found the elevator stuck between the 13th and 14th floor. Suspecting that the girl was trapped inside, her family tried to get her. It took them four hours to open the elevator and they were shocked to find the girl’s lifeless body in the elevator shaft. Sources said the girl may have immediately stepped into the elevator, without realizing that there was no platform so she fell to her death. Police are investigating how the child fell into the elevator shaft.
250 traffic citations issued: During a crackdown on violators of traffic laws, traffic police from the Capital Governorate are said to have issued more than 250 citations for motorists for parking vehicles in the ‘No Parking’ zones mainly near the ministries complex and market areas, reports Al-Watan Arabic daily. The traffic police have also put wheel locks on 22 cars and impounded nine vehicles from motorists for committing serious violations.
