Children of Bedoun military men may be allowed to join police force Ministry of Interior studying issue in bid to cover shortage of security officers KUWAIT CITY, July 29: The Ministry of Interior is currently studying the possibility of allowing children of Bedoun military men and Kuwaiti women married to non-Kuwaitis to join the police force to cover the shortage of security officers in the country, reports Al-Shahed daily quoting reliable sources.
Sources said the Interview Committee at the ministry has started accepting applications for the officers training course, adding that more than 2,000 applicants have completed interviews, as well as physical and medical tests, but only 200 trainees will be chosen. Sources attributed the remarkable increase in the number of applicants to the incentives and salary increments approved recently.
On the other hand, MP Dr Daifallah Buramiya has warned First Deputy Premier and Minister of Defense Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak against ‘buying’ political loyalty at the expense of the military institution. He alleged the minister has been trying to involve the Armed Forces into the escalation of political tension to protect himself from grilling. He said the minister has reached an agreement with some lawmakers to accept certain applicants to the officers training course in exchange for protecting him against any grilling attempt. He also stressed the need to expose all shady political deals in the interest of the nation and its people.
