Iraqi citizen wanted in several crimes caught by police 3 beggars, 12 expats nabbed
KUWAIT CITY, Aug 6: Jahra police arrested an Iraqi wanted by law for his involvement in a number of criminal cases.
While patrolling the area, the officers noticed the Iraqi loitering around late at night, so they stopped him for routine inspection. When the officers checked his security records, they discovered he had repeatedly evaded arrest for various crimes he committed in the past. He was referred to the concerned security department for prosecution.
Beggars held: Farwaniya patrolmen arrested three beggars and 12 expatriates staying illegally in the country.
As part of the ongoing campaign of the Interior Ministry against beggars and expatriates who violate the Residency Law, the Farwaniya Security Directorate formed a team of officers to launch an intensive inspection in the governorate. This resulted in the arrest of 15 persons — three were found begging and the remaining 12 do not hold valid residence permits. They were referred to the concerned security department for the necessary legal action.
Taxi broken into: A taxi driver filed a report with police on the stealing of his mobile phone and wallet, which contained KD70.
According to the driver, he entered a mosque in Al-Nugra to perform ‘Taraweeh’ prayers but he was surprised to find the window of the taxi broken when he came out of the mosque.
A team of officers from the Criminal Evidence Department lifted fingerprints to identify the thief. Security sources said this is the third theft of its kind registered in Hawally Police Station.
Youth hurt in fight: An unidentified youth sustained injuries in different parts of his body after engaging in a fistfight with another teenager in Salmiya.
Securitymen and paramedics rushed to the location immediately after receiving a call from a passerby who witnessed the fight. The injured was referred to Mubarak Al-Kabeer Hospital, while the other teenager was taken to a police station for questioning.
Initial investigations revealed the two teenagers had a heated argument due to earlier disputes but the argument escalated into a fistfight.
Meanwhile, a young man got multiple injuries after engaging in a public brawl with two other youths in the parking lot of Sabah Hospital.
Police and medical emergency workers were dispatched to the scene after the Operations Room received information on the fight. The injured was taken to the hospital and police are now looking for the two other youths, who escaped upon sensing the presence of security officers.
