Ladies cannot apply for a dependent visa for her kids
My current salary is above KD 250/-. I would like to sponsor my son who is in the Philippines. My husband, on the other hand, will be working abroad and since both our parents are old and unable to take care of our very young son, I would like to apply for a dependent visa for my child. My husband is willing to request an affidavit from a lawyer granting me permission to take and live with my son outside our country. What are the possibilities that I will get an approval? I have come to know from our HR that a working wife cannot apply for a dependent visa for her kids — except if divorced or a widow.

Answer: Your company is right. Those are the only two conditions in which you can apply to sponsor your child. The Immigration Dept will not even entertain your application. The Immigration Dept does, however, allow a woman’s sponsorship if they are already residents of Kuwait and there is some problem with the husband’s residence. But this is only for special circumstances.
