Visa transfer from Domestic visa to Work permit
I am working in a pharmacy on an Article 20 residence. My sponsor promised that he’ll change my residence after a month of my joining the institution. But until now nothing has happened. He just took all my school records and told me that he’ll apply for an MoH license.
As of now I haven’t received what he promised. I am also afraid that Labor inspectors may arrive for a checking. I want to leave my work and I want my papers back. I have been working here for almost 8 months. There is a pharmacy which is willing to hire me and give me a work visa. By the way, I’m a university graduate.

Answer: Your sponsor should not have taken so long because Article 20 (domestics) residence can be changed to Article 18 (work permit) residence only if the sponsor is the same. But if your sponsor is not the one who got you the Article 20 visa, then he won’t be able to transfer your residence. Nor will the other firm which is offering you a job be able to do so. So you might have to get a new visa, leave the country and return on a new document.
