Property owners in Egypt warned Group of thugs on the prowl
KUWAIT CITY, Aug 28: Kuwaitis, citizens of the Gulf Cooperation Council states and even the Egyptians who are not residents of Egypt are faced with the possibility of losing their properties in Egypt, reports Al-Watan Arabic daily.
It has been reported groups of thugs are on the prowl and they steal the contents of homes, apartments and farms owned by the Kuwaitis, GCC citizens and even non-resident Egyptians.
The thieves are believed to be taking advantage of the lawlessness in Egypt and the absence of property owners.
It has also been reported some of these thugs have forged documents showing they are the owners of the property and the authorities have no option but to refer the cases to the Public Prosecution after complaints are filed at police stations. The cases are usually looked into by the courts and it takes more than three years for a case to come to the hearing.
Security sources have urged the owners of real estate to assign competent security companies or entrust Egyptians to take ‘care’ of their properties from time to time.
