Kuwait ranked 47th with 0.765 pts Health sector personnel efficiency index released

KUWAIT CITY, Sept 10: Kuwait was ranked number 47 with 0.765 points in the health sector personnel efficiency index released recently by a child rescue organization in the US, reports Al-Watan Arabic daily.
The index looks into the health care provided to children in terms of the percentage of those given three doses of medicines for whooping cough, tetanus and diphtheria. It also assesses the health care for mothers during childbirth besides the appointment of competent and well-trained personnel in the medical sector.

In this context, the World Health Organization (WHO) said the minimum level for providing basic health services for children and mothers includes the appointment of 23 competent personnel for every 10,000 people. In the US, there are 125 competent healthcare personnel for every 10,000 people and it has been ranked number 15 among 161 countries with 0.855.

Meanwhile, Qatar was ranked number one in the Arab region and 20th internationally with 0.832; Libya came in second and 38th international with 0.785 points before the revolution; Jordan and Kuwait tied in number three and 47th internationally with 0.765 points; Oman came in fifth in the Arab region and 54th internationally with 0.755 points; Bahrain in number six and 59th internationally with 0.743 points; the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in seventh regionally and 60th internationally with 0.740 points; Tunisia in the eighth position regionally and 67th internationally with 0.729 points; Saudi Arabia in ninth position regionally and 73rd internationally with 0.697 points; Egypt in number 10 and 70th internationally with 0.692 points; Algeria in number 11 and 81st internationally with 0.680 points; Lebanon in 12th position regionally and 84th internationally with 0.669 points; Syria in 13th place regionally and 94th internationally with 0.633 points; Morocco in 14th place regionally and 108th internationally with 0.564 points; Iraq in 15th regionally and 117th internationally with 0.517 points; Sudan in 16th regionally and 129th internationally with 0.463 points; Yemen in 17th regionally and 150th internationally with 0.355 points.
