Father killed in fire saving wife, son One dead, 6 hurt in mishaps
KUWAIT CITY, Oct 20: Fire engulfed a house in Sulaibikhat, resulting in the death of a 34-year-old Kuwaiti and injuries to his son and the housemaid.
Firefighters, securitymen and paramedics rushed to the location immediately after the Operations Room received information on the incident. When they reached the scene, the fire already spread on the first floor of the two-storey house.
Security sources revealed the Kuwaiti managed to help his wife out of the burning house and he returned to save his son and housemaid, who were trapped inside. However, he died due to asphyxiation, while his son and the housemaid survived and they were taken to Sabah Hospital. Director of Public Relations Department Lieutenant Colonel Khaleel Al-Ameer said the firemen rescued the child and the housemaid. A case was registered and investigations are ongoing to determine the actual cause of fire.
Egyptian killed: One person died and six others were injured in separate traffic accidents reported on Thursday.
A 54-year-old Egyptian man died after being run over by a speeding motorist in Salmiya area. The man succumbed to severe head injuries. His remains were referred to Forensics. In a separate incident, a Bangladeshi expatriate was seriously injured when he was run over by a vehicle on Ahmad Al-Jaber Street. He was referred to Amiri Hospital and he is said to be in a critical condition.
Also, a Kuwaiti, 34, sustained serious injuries when his car collided with another vehicle and overturned on Kabad Motorway. Paramedics rushed him to Farwaniya Hospital and he too is believed to be in a critical condition.
Furthermore, three men - a Kuwaiti, an Asian and an Egyptian - were injured in a two-vehicle collision on Cairo Street, opposite Mansouriya. The men were referred to Amiri Hospital for treatment.
Lastly, an Egyptian, 29, suffered injuries in a traffic accident in Abdalli area. He was referred to Farwaniya Hospital.
Worker perishes: A house under construction in Al-Zahra area partially collapsed on Wednesday, killing a construction worker, Kuwait Fire Service Directorate (KFSD) said.
The KFSD said, in a press statement, that its rescue teams rushed to the scene immediately after receiving notification of the accident.
Upon reaching the site, the team started the rescue operation and pulled the dead worked out of debris. The victim has been sent to hospital for autopsy.
The directorate called on all construction contractors to take all the necessary measures to ensure safety of their workers.
