Health insurance firm to take care of expats 3 hospitals to be constructed

KUWAIT CITY, Nov 15: Ministry of Health Undersecretary Dr Ibrahim Al-Abdulhadi said the health insurance company, which he announced in March, will be in charge of providing treatment to expatriate patients in hospitals that will be constructed in three governorates, reports Al-Watan Arabic daily.

Al-Abdulhadi disclosed construction of the hospitals is in line with the country’s development plan, as contained in law number 9/2010 and through implementation of law number 1/1999 concerning health insurance policy for expatriates.

He said the plan is part of health insurance policy for Kuwaitis, which will be implemented in the near future.
He explained the company will provide basic healthcare services to expatriates with the aid of latest medical equipment and facilities, in addition to specialized doctors, in collaboration and under supervision of the ministry.

He indicated that the service will not be limited to those hospitals, since they will cooperate with the ministry to refer certain cases to specialized clinics at public hospitals when necessary.

He added primary healthcare services will be available in 15 health centers across health regions.

He stressed the ministry will provide tertiary healthcare to expatriates through government specialist hospitals, in addition to preventive services and emergency cases in all health centers and hospitals. He clarified there is no discrimination against expatriates since they can follow subscription law governing the health insurance system to opt for their preference among the ministry, private sector and the company.
