Study on private sector workers pay hike in Jan Citizens in private firms increase remarkably
KUWAIT CITY, Nov 16: A study on proposed salary increment for private sector workers will be completed in January, says Assistant Secretary General of the Labor Affairs Section at the Government Manpower and Restructuring Program (GMRP) Fawzi Al-Mejdali.
In a press statement Thursday, Al-Mejdali said a team, consisting of representatives from the Civil Service Commission (CSC), GMRP, Kuwait University (KU), Public Authority for Social Security (PASS) and Kuwait Institute for Scientific Research (KISR), is carrying out the study to compare the salaries of Kuwaiti employees in public institutions and their counterparts in the private sector. He explained some professionals in the private sector are better than those in the public institutions, but the latter have more privileges like study leaves.
Al-Mejdali added the number of Kuwaiti employees in the private sector has increased remarkably, indicating around 5,000 citizens join private companies annually.
