KUWAIT CITY, Jan 21, (KUNA): Mature and well-tempered democracy is needed in Kuwait via the cooperation between the legislative and executive branches of government, said second constituency candidate for the 2012 National Assembly elections Dr Mahmoud Dashti here on Saturday.
Dashti told the press that his campaign would focus on measures to achieve equality and justice to all sectors of society, adding that such would reflect positively on the future of the nation.
He called for benefiting from the capabilities of civil and public benefit societies and including such institutes in parliamentary and governmental committees.
The National Assembly candidate also said that his program would work on developing the health and economic sectors in Kuwait, if elected to parliament.
Meanwhile, the candidate of the second constituency, Abdullah Al-Bethali, has underscored necessity of cooperation between the legislative and executive authorities after upcoming parliamentary elections due on February 2nd.
Al-Bethali, in a statement, called for “elating level” of the rhetoric of the candidates, boosting cooperation between the lawmakers and executives and averting sectarian, tribal and factional incitement.
He called for hammering out a special strategy for education to match level of education in advanced nations, on basis of distinguished beliefs and traditions of the Kuwaiti society.
Classic methods of teaching, such as memorizing, should be replaced with more advanced ways, based on research and participation, he opined.
He also called for building modern hospitals, housing towns to resolve the housing problem and urged the electorate to choose “the fittest” to represent them in the parliament.
In another development, many citizens are annoyed that corrupt activities in elections can not be verified, reports A-Qabas daily quoting secretary general of Kuwait Journalists Association (KJA) Jamal Al-Qenai saying.
Al-Qenai noted that perpetrators cover their tracks perfectly without leaving any clue to their arrest. He called on individuals with information to cooperate with the KJA, Kuwait Transparency Society or Kuwait Bar association and report corrupt electoral activities.
He emphasized the gravity of bad practices some candidates are promoting in society, and noted that the Interior Ministry has designated five police stations to follow up the election.
And, candidate of the First Constituency Issa Al-Kanderi has said that citizens crave new faces and innovation after Feb 2 parliamentary elections, reports Al-Anba daily.
Al-Kanderi made the declaration at the launch of his election campaign in Bayan, where he stressed the next parliament should be able to fulfill the works of the former parliament. He also said Kuwait will fail to exist by 2020, ad the former US ambassador to Kuwait predicted, if the rate of corruption continues.
He called for reconciliation between the executive and legislative authorities to prevent the spread of corruption, while affirming his loyalty to the ruling family that has been ruling the country for 300 years. He is of the view that citizens are willing to swear their allegiance in that regard without sword.
