‘Premier almost finalizes names for new Cabinet’ Anjari likely to be 1st Dy PM
KUWAIT CITY, Feb 10: His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak Al-Sabah is said to have almost compiled a list of names which will form the next Cabinet. The names are expected to be announced Saturday or Sunday morning, reports Al-Anba daily quoting reliable sources.
According to the same sources Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak has met many political blocs including the Salafist Movement and Islamic Constitutional Movement (ICM) to seek their participation in the new government.
The sources added Mishari Al-Anjari is likely to be appointed First Deputy Prime Minister and State Minister for Cabinet and National Assembly Affairs. If this anticipation holds water, he will be the first minister from outside the ruling family to become the first deputy prime minister.
The sources indicated Hawalli Governor General Abdullah Al-Fares could be the next interior minister and also the first to take up the portfolio from outside the ruling family.
Others expected to hold ministerial portfolios could include Khaled Al-Zeir for Awqaf and Islamic Affairs and Counselor Ali Al-Dhubaibi or Bader Al-Duwailah for Justice Ministry. Former ministers who are likely to return to the Cabinet include Dr Amani Bouresli and Dr Fadhel Safar.
Meanwhile, the Hawalli Governor General Abdullah Al-Fares has denied his name has been recommended for the post of the interior minister.
He said this was mere wishful thinking while attending the ‘Our Generation’ exhibition on behalf of the minister of interior.
He affirmed nobody has consulted him on this issue. However, he reiterated his readiness to serve the country in any capacity.
In other news, MP Mohammad Al-Juwaihel has called on the prime minister to ensure Dr Safar makes the final ministerial list, “because he is one of the most competent public officers who has served the country diligently.”
