ICM shuns posts in new Cabinet, want development, no corruption Saad Al-Barrak denies reports he is joining govt

KUWAIT CITY, Feb 11: HH the Prime Minister, Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak Al-Sabah, met with Islamic Constitu-tional Movement (ICM) members of parliament Saturday for consultations prior to the new cabinet formation, said MP Osama Al-Shaheen.
Reform
Al-Shaheen disclosed via Twitter that the meeting did not reveal the candidates targeted for ministerial posts; however the ICM lawmakers assured Sheikh Jaber Al-Sabah that they do not desire to be among the cabinet formation. He added that the ICM informed the PM that it supports any reform steps the cabinet will undertake, and said there are two important issues the authority must focus on — the country’s general development and anti-corruption legislation.
Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak Al-Sabah had also reportedly met with various other blocs, such as the Popular Action Bloc (PAB) as part of consultations. HH the Prime Minister was appointed to the post last week and announcement of the new cabinet ministers is expected before the National Assembly’s 14th legislative term begins on Feb 15.
Meanwhile, MP Faisal Al-Muslim stated that the Prime Minister must appoint state ministers based on their qualifications and reputation, away from quota systems and loyalty-buying. He said the executive authority must keep away from the National Assembly’s secretariat formation.  It also must work on the pardoning of all youth who “were enthusiastic due to the lack of law implementation, so the issue does not shackle cooperation between both authorities”, he said in reference to those who took part in the parliament break-in.
Cooperate
Al-Muslim called on the future cabinet to fully and sincerely cooperate in the adoption of a set of laws pertaining to state institutions so that they are able to fulfill their constitutional duties. “The government must also provide the assembly, following its formation, with a schedule that includes deadline for the completion of development plan projects,” he added.
