38,500 leave Kuwait during National and Liberation days holidays
KUWAIT CITY, Feb 26 : A total of 38,500 people, most of them believed to be Kuwaitis, left the country between Feb 22 and Feb 24 aboard 321 commercial flights to spend Kuwait’s National and Liberation days holidays in Dubai, Istanbul or Beirut spending approximately KD 14.7 million, reports Al-Watan daily quoting reliable sources monitoring tourism activities in Kuwait.
According to the same sources the price of air tickets also shot up dramatically due to the sudden rush in travel. Some sources say the average price rise was between KD 89 and KD 214.
Other sources say, 13,965 people spent their National and Liberation days in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia
performing the religious ritual ‘Umra’.
Meanwhile, the sources say the number of people who entered and left Kuwait through the Kuwait International Airport and the two land border exits during the National Day weekend reached 154,000, a majority of them Kuwaitis and the rest GCC citizens.
