Fingerprints trap almost 1,700 Asian, Arab illegals at airport
KUWAIT CITY, Feb 28: The fingerprint detection system at the Kuwait International Airport has proved very effective and nearly 1,700 people of various nationalities carrying fake passports and others who were banned from entering Kuwait were detected by the machines, reports Al-Qabas daily.
Sources said most of those arrested were Asians, while the others were Arabs.
The system will be implemented at land and sea borders too once the machines are connected to the immigration departments and units in the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Public Authority for Civil Information (PACI), military centers and other vital government agencies, sources said.
According to sources, the machines take only three seconds to disclose the identity of any person coming from arrival or departure halls, even if he is carrying a forged passport.
