CSC prepares report on salary hike for Kuwaitis in all sectors Retirees to also be considered

KUWAIT CITY, March 2: The Civil Service Commission (CSC) has prepared a report on the salary raise for Kuwaitis working in the government as well as the private sectors in addition to the retirees who do not have any financial pension scale, reports Al-Anba daily.
It also has taken a view of some authorities, which deserve this increment, such as the General Customs Administration, the Investigation Public Department and Legal Department.
Sources said the general percentage is calculated on the basis of 20 percent or 35 percent of the basic. The sources also disclosed this percentage which is expected to be approved will promote employees with low salaries. In other words, this percentage will be low for those who already receive high salaries.
The sources indicated the salary raise proposed for the Kuwaiti employees working in the private sector will be as follows: KD 400 for the holders of Doctorate certificates, KD 350 for the holders of Master Degree, KD 300 for holders of academic degree, KD 250 for the holders of diploma, KD 200 for graduates of secondary stage, KD 100 for employees holding Intermediate School certificates and KD 50 those who have passed the primary level.
The sources added a two-week grace period has been allotted to approve the proposal. This period ends on March 8 as per a statement issued by Minister of Finance Mustapha Al-Shamali on Feb 23.
Surprisingly, it has been reported the CSC has yet to form a board of directors and appoint a chairman but according to reliable sources the position of chairman will go either to Al-Shamali or Deputy Premier, Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled.
Meanwhile, Al-Shamali was quoted as saying the ministry has reviewed the proposed salary increment for government employees in various sectors not covered by the current salary raise, reports Al-Rai daily.
He said the recommendation has been forwarded to the Council of Ministers for final review. The approval is expected anytime soon, he added.
Al-Shamali informed the increment covers employees and retirees, but retired military officers who benefited from the salary raise before they retired are not included in the proposal.
However, he didn’t give the percentage of increment and the expected period of implementation.
