Cabinet briefed on council’s resolution on govt work plan PM chairs weekly meeting

KUWAIT CITY, March 11, (KUNA): The Council of Ministers held at Seif Palace on Sunday its weekly meeting chaired by His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah.
Following the meeting, Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign Minister and State Minister for Cabinet Affairs Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah informed the Cabinet about the outcomes of his participation as chairman of the regular session of the Arab League Ministerial Council, held on Saturday in Cairo, where the Russian foreign minister gave a speech and discussed with the Council latest updates on situations in Syria.
He noted that there was an agreement on some key points on Syria during the ministerial meeting, which included an immediate halt to the blood shedding, a neutral monitoring mechanism, non-foreign involvement, unrestricted access of foreign media and humanitarian workers to the country, and full support to UN-Arab Special Envoy to Syria Kofi Annan’s mission.
In the same context, Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled informed the Cabinet about the outcomes of his meeting with Kofi Annan, before his visit to Damascus, where there has been an affirmation on commitment to the Arab League’s resolutions on the situation in Syria.
On the other hand, Sheikh Sabah briefed the Cabinet on the resolution that was made by the Supreme Council for Planning and Development concerning agendas on the government work plan for the 14th legislative term (2012/2013 - 2015/2016), which came under the wise guidance of the speech of His Highness the Amir, as well as His Highness the Crown Prince, during the opening session of the National Assembly, where the government work plan would come in commitment with all trends, policies, medium-term projects of development plan for the years 2011/2012 - 2013/2014, and long-term strategic goals until the year 2035.
He pointed out that the Cabinet stressed foundations of government work plan that were mentioned in the Crown Prince’s speech during Cabinet’s first meeting to develop milestones for the government’s practical approach in the next stage, which includes that Kuwait is a state of institutions that is governed by a Constitution that organizes the work of authorities and cooperation and maintains Kuwait’s sovereignty and independence.
Also, the Cabinet discussed political issues in light of reports concerning overall developments in political arena on Arab and international levels.
