Lawyer sues Municipality staffer in forgery Minister pulls case against MP
KUWAIT CITY, March 11: Attorney Abeer Al-Fawaz has filed a lawsuit with the Public Prosecution accusing an employee of the Kuwait Municipality of forgery and peddling influence.
In her lawsuit the lawyer said on July 26, 2011, a Kuwaiti man bought a plot of land next to hers in Khaldiya and demolished the fence of her house — the house in which her family has lived since 1962.
The Kuwaiti accused Al-Fawaz of encroaching on 80 meters of his land. When the lawyer consulted the Municipality survey expert, he promised to build a temporary wall which indicated he had assisted the Kuwaiti to steal her land.
Al-Fawaz in her complaint with the Khaldiya Police Station accused the Kuwaiti of intentionally damaging the property of others. The investigation is ongoing but to her surprise the Kuwaiti sent workers into her home. This behavior of the Kuwaiti forced her to file another complaint with the same police station. The investigation is underway.
Case withdrawn: The Minister of Social Affairs and Labor Ahmad Al-Rujeib has withdrawn a lawsuit which he had filed at the Criminal Court against MP Mohammad Hayef Al-Mutairi.
Case papers indicate the parliamentarian during a press conference on Sept 26, 2010, had accused the Minister when he was then Undersecretary at the Ministry of Interior and some senior leaders of promoting corruption in the ministry.
However, the court has set March 18, 2012, to issue a verdict.
Defense lawyers Duwaem Al-Muzeiri and Adel Al-Abdulhadi praised the move made by the minister. This attitude translates as a new gesture to open a new page of constructive cooperation in the best interests of the country to avoid divisions and conflicts.
