Egyptian couple flies to home country leaving behind newborn baby Police find four-year-old missing girl

KUWAIT CITY, March 16: In an appalling case of parental neglect, an Egyptian couple left for their home country, leaving behind their newborn baby in Kuwait, reports Al-Qabas daily.

Sources say the couple had a vicious fight, following which the wife left for her country. Soon, the husband followed with their other three children, but left the newborn, whose residence hadn’t been stamped and who did not have a birth certificate, in the care of a compatriot.

The compatriot contacted the Egyptian consulate in Kuwait which took care of the baby, issued birth certificate and travel documents and sent the newborn to Egypt. Sources say an airhostess handed the child to the Egyptian foreign ministry which tracked down the parents and returned the child to them.
Meanwhile, after a few tense hours, an Egyptian couple was reunited with their four-year-old daughter who went missing from Salmiya area, reports Al-Rai daily.

The girl’s father, in his complaint, said his daughter was last seen in front of Salmiya Investigations Department. Police circulated the girl’s details and description to all patrols who eventually found her on Belajat Street.
