KUWAIT CITY, March 16: The Minister of State for Housing Affairs and State Minister for Parliament Affairs Shuaib Al-Muweizri was recently quoted as saying a fierce war has been waged against him by the powers of corruption in the Public Authority for Housing CARE (PAHC). He also indicated some officials tried to mislead him, reports Al-Horriya daily.
In an interview with one of the local TV channels he said corruption and negligence of some officials is the key reason for the housing crisis in the country.
He stressed he will not be tolerant with anyone it is proved any official is involved in embezzling public funds.
In addition to this, he said, he will not allow any official to humiliate the dignity of a Kuwaiti citizen working for the PAHC or for the Credit and Savings Bank.
He made it clear that corruption in the administrative sector of the PAHC or the Credit and Savings Bank can be taken care of yet, the financial corruption particularly related to public funds must be referred to the judiciary.
He disclosed a committee to investigate facts has been formed to identify reasons for suspending housing projects which were listed among the plans of the PAHC.
Speaking on housing tenders which were recently suspended because they are full of violations, he said, “The value the tenders which I cancelled was worth KD 150 million.
They will be re-floated and the door will be opened for international companies to bid for these tenders.”
He also disclosed the electronic website of PAHC will be launched after eight months. Thus, a citizen will be able to submit his application electronically without visiting the authority. He stressed he tends seriously to handle the price hike in real estate and houses.
He pointed out he will coordinate with the Ministry of Commerce and Industry to control monopoly without negatively influencing the private sector. He added he receives the citizens every Monday at the PAHC headquarters and employees every Tuesday to receive complaints and opinions.
