Citizens, expats complaints refuted ‘Govt hospitals provide excellent medical care’
KUWAIT CITY, March 24: A number of citizens expressed their dissatisfaction over the services provided in the government hospitals, describing them as bad services, reports Al-Shahed daily.
Citizens and expatriates are experiencing a lot of problems due to misdiagnosis, appointment delays and lack of good hospital facilities in these hospitals.
The citizens urged the authorities to review and improve the medical services as part of the government development project.
However on the contrary, Dr Abbas Ramadan, manager of Al-Sabah Hospital said the medical services provided in government hospitals are at par with those available in private hospitals. He pointed out that most of the doctors who work in private hospitals in the evening, are working at government hospitals in the morning.
He also said the best medical care is provided by the Ministry of Health; however what the hospitals lack are sufficient number of staff and building facilities.
Regarding the appointment delays, Dr Abbas Ramadan pointed out that in Western countries, appointments for operations have to be made one year in advance; comparatively in Kuwait, if appointments are delayed by a week or two, the patients get agitated.
He added that the ministry is working on this problem by preceding appointments and opening evening clinics to reduce the waiting time.
He said the Ministry of Health is constantly trying its best to provide the best medical services for the people of Kuwait.
He concluded that according to world statistics, Kuwait is one of the top countries that adheres to patients’ hospital appointments approximately around the given time.
