KD 250m free food supplied
KUWAIT CITY, April 2: The Ministry of Commerce and Industry will start selling subsidized food products on Wednesday because the 14-month free food Amiri grant ended Saturday, reports Al-Seyassah daily quoting sources.
Sources revealed the subsidized food distribution centers in various areas were given three days to make the necessary technical and administrative arrangements, in addition to the inventory of food supplies in preparation for the resumption of their operations on Wednesday.
Sources said the country spent around KD250 million for the distribution of free food supplies to citizens for 14 months, while the number of beneficiaries totaled 1,751,207.
Sources added the ministry will stop the distribution of subsidized food products to citizens, who have no smart civil ID cards, starting from May 31.
