‘MOCI will not tolerate unreasonable price hikes’ Legal action against violators

KUWAIT CITY, April 7: The Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MOCI) will not tolerate unreasonable price hikes, especially after the approval of the salary increments for public sector employees, reports Al-Rai daily quoting Minister Anas Khalid Al-Saleh. Al-Saleh affirmed the ministry will take the necessary legal action against traders who increase prices without any valid reason.

He cited a previous commercial fraud case involving some people who were referred to the court by the ministry for raising prices. He said the ministry has laid down a mechanism for dealing with the unreasonable price hikes. He added the items included in the ration cards for citizens are subsidized by the country, so there is no reason to increase the prices of these goods.
