Al-Khanfour banned from leaving Kuwait Al-Juwaihal supports dual citizenship
KUWAIT CITY, April 13: Securitymen at Al-Nuwaiseeb border reportedly prevented MP Saad Al-Khanfour from leaving the country as his name appeared on the travel ban list, reports Al-Seyassah daily.
Sources say a travel ban was issued against the lawmaker for defaulting and the ban cannot be lifted unless the payment is made.
Meanwhile, MP Mohammed Al-Juwaihal has declared his support for the dual citizenship bill, insisting those holding dual citizenship should be disclosed, reports Al-Watan Arabic daily.
He added, it is one of the pivots of the grilling request he submitted against Interior Minister, particularly regarding the case of a person named Naif Ayesh Al-Mutairi who deserves the Kuwaiti citizenship as he meets all the conditions for citizenship. Al-Juwaihal went on to explain that this person holds the census of 1965, he is married to a Kuwaiti woman, his documents confirm that he served in the Kuwaiti Army and was captured by the Iraqi force during the invasion. Moreover, he was born in Kuwait and is the father of a female martyr.
He stressed that this case is unlike that of the Kuwaiti-Saudi citizen who is working in Kuwait Municipality and lives in Saudi Arabia. He receives his salary from Kuwait Municipality and also receives income by collecting the rentals of his house and from the donations granted to Kuwaitis.
Citizenship
Al-Juwaihal insisted that through his alleged inquest, he seeks to withdraw the Kuwaiti citizenship from the cheater and grant the Kuwaiti citizenship to Ayesh Naif Al-Mutairi.
In another development, the 29-member group recently held a seminar called ‘Creative Bedouns’ at the headquarters of the Women Cultural Society to discuss the new developments of Bedouns’ case and to insist on quick solutions, reports Al-Seyassah daily.
Media practitioner and poet Dakheel Al-Khalifa pointed out that there are many creative Bedouns in various fields and yet, they are rejected in their country Kuwait even though they have been embraced in many western countries along with some other Arab countries. Accordingly, he demanded the concerned authorities to solve this case as quickly as possible.
The seminar stressed on the importance of handling this file quickly before it inflates and negatively affects the whole country. It also included a documentary film showcasing several achievements made by Bedoun youths.
Meanwhile, members of the Environment Committee of the National Assembly plan to visit Rehyah Sunday, a suburb six kilometers away from Jahra, reports Al-Watan Arabic daily.
This came after the residents of this suburb expressed more fear than anger because more than five million old car tyres have been dumped in a huge heap in the area.
MPs Musallam Al-Barrak and Dr Hamad Al-Matar are among the lawmakers who will assess the level of calamity the debris has caused the residents of the area.
