MP submits query on bringing in banknotes Al-Namlan submits query on HIV positive maid

KUWAIT CITY, April 20: MP Faisal Al-Mislem has submitted a parliamentary query to the Minister of Finance on regulations covering foreigners bri-nging into the country foreign banknotes, repo-rts Al-Anba daily.
Al-Mislem was quoted as saying millions of foreign banknotes enter the country on a daily basis.
Al-Mislem raised doubts that some banknotes may be fake currency used in money laundering operations. Based on his observation he has submitted the following queries and asked for replies as soon as possible.
What conditions regulate the entry of such currency into Kuwait? Which authorities are allowed to do so? Are there any statistics about banknotes which enter the country daily? Do exchange offices announce the source of these banknotes? Does the General Customs Adminis-tration have any special systems to track forged notes?
MP Salem Al-Namlan also has submitted a query to the Minister of Health Dr Ali Al-Obeidi.
He wants to know about the Ethiopian housemaid identified as Redia Khalil Hassan who entered Kuwait two years ago, left the country and then went to Saudi Arabia where her sponsor discovered that she is a carrier of AIDS. The story was published by the Al-Rai newspaper recently.
Sources say the maid escaped from the house of the Saudi man after she learned of the results of the medical tests and her sponsor published her picture in a newspaper to warn others of the danger of employing her.
When the news report was published in the Al-Rai daily a Kuwaiti family for whom she worked recognized her and it is unfortunate the family’s two children aged six and seven have contracted the disease.
“I ask the minister about the accuracy of this news report,” said Al-Namlan. He also wants to know what precautionary measures the Ministry of Health has taken to protect the family and the two children.
