MP eyes changes to ‘law’ to give Amir more powers Ten MPs attend meeting

KUWAIT CITY, April 24: MP Abdulhameed Dashti says he will soon submit to the Parliament an amendment to the existing ‘law of inheritance’ to give more powers to HH the Amir to help him rearrange the house of the ruling family, reports Alam Alyawm daily.
Speaking to journalists after a meeting, which was held at the office of MP Ali Al-Rashid and attended by 10 MPs belonging to the so-called minority group in the National Assembly, he said the amendment is in line with Article 4 of the Constitution.
This article says the descendants of Mubarak Al-Sabah are the rulers of Kuwait and we accept them as rulers of Kuwait forever.
Therefore, it is necessary to protect and entrench their house particularly after the malpractices and violations committed recently by some, said Al-Dashti.
He indicated the entire Kuwaiti society is worried and it is necessary to take positive steps in this domain. However, this amendment requires the approval of two thirds majority in the Parliament besides the approval of HH the Amir.
He further pointed out those who attended the meeting underlined a number of important issues which are unfolding in the political arena such as the interpellation request which is expected to be filed against the Minister of Finance Mustafa Al-Shamali.
He added they have agreed to wait until the inquest is submitted officially to give their point of view in this regard.
