Need a Kuwaiti Brigitte Bardot
BRIGITTE BARDOT is a beautiful French actress whom the late French President Charles de Gaulle considered a national treasure and who gained fame for her role in ‘And God Created Woman’. Her words were like a melody, swaying like tree branches blown by a mild breeze ... Those were the good old days when nothing shook our pleasant lives; when there were no symbols, morality watchdogs, church destroyers, bribe-takers or nepotism.
Now at the age of 77, we can say Bardot has devoted half of her life to the defense of animal rights and confrontation of immigrants who oppose the French way of life. She devoted her life to nature and to her body, which is considered part of the natural world that God has granted to us. Unlike others in her profession, she has not undergone any cosmetic surgery to maintain a youthful look.
Last week, Bardot — a renowned animal rights activist — launched a scathing attack against the King of Spain, Juan Carlos, who got injured in his elephant-hunting expedition in Africa (Botswana). She also expressed her views on the candidates for the upcoming French presidential elections.
Praising her favorite — Marine Le Pen, Bardot thinks the right-wing candidate can save France from the turmoil they have been suffering for years. She pointed out the latter strongly criticizes the current situation in the country. She believes that even if Le Pen lost in the first round, she can still win in the next elections; once the French find themselves trapped in a deplorable situation.
Bardot described environment party candidate Eva Jolly as gentle, Philippe Poutou as courageous and Jacques Cheminade as funny. She said the Socialist candidate, Francois Hollande, does not deserve the votes, asserting that former presidential candidate Segolene Royale is more attractive than him. She directed her final bullet towards Nicolas Sarkozy, admitting that she was disgusted when he failed to fulfill the promises he made during the presidential election in 2007.
Bardot’s comments on the French presidential election candidates were harsh and sensitive, but this is normal in a real democracy; not the democracy of the dictatorial majority whose members listen only to their voices. There, you will not find politicians like the MP who filed 100 lawsuits against his rivals, as well as his friend who heads a disgraced parliamentary committee and comes second in filing cases against anyone he abhors. Maybe, we should ‘import’ Bardot to teach them the basics of real democracy.
