MP says has docus to prove Iraqi soldier granted Kuwaiti citizenship Bloc to submit grilling request against Shimali
KUWAIT CITY, May 5: MP Abdullah Al-Turaiji says he has official documents that prove an Iraqi soldier participating in the Iraqi invasion was granted the Kuwaiti citizenship, reports Al-Seyassah daily.
Al-Turaiji vows to closely follow up the issue, and “ I am ready to present relevant documents to the Interior Ministry”, he noted.
In an unrelated development, MP Abdullatif Al-Omairi disclosed that the parliamentary majority is not bent on supporting any grilling request against the ministers that hasn’t been referred to the bloc, reports Al-Watan Arabic daily.
This statement directly brings up the grilling proposal MP Mohammed Al-Juwaihel has submitted against Minister of Interior Sheikh Ahmad Al-Humoud Al-Sabah, and “although the majority understands that some interpellation requests have improper or secret agenda, it will enable the proponents of grilling requests discuss the issue to strengthen the Constitution that approves the parliament”.
Meanwhile, MP Hamad Al-Matar announced that the bloc has agreed to submit an interpellation request against the Minister of Finance Mustafa Al-Shimali in the next two weeks.
Also, the Chairperson of Parliamentary Legislation Committee MP Waleed Al-Tabtabaei said the committee on Sunday resumes discussions on anti-corruption draft laws, which will be forwarded to the Cabinet within two weeks for discussion on May 22 session, reports Al-Qabas daily.
Al-Tabtabaei also said the committee agreed on approving the proposed authority to control corruption, stressing the draft law requires heads and members of the Legislature and Executive, their spouses, and senior officials to declare their assets. He noted that members of the Supreme Judiciary Council will be invited to offer their viewpoints on the draft law.
