Municipality sets the record straight CTC OKs MEW’s tender float

KUWAIT CITY, May: Kuwait Municipality denied recent rumor which says the Minister of Electricity and Water Abdul Aziz Al-Ibrahim has refused the Council of Ministers’ recommendation to increase the strategic grain silos and allot a place in Shuwaikh for that purpose, reports Al-Seyassah daily quoting sources.
The same sources clarified that the Municipal Council had rather refused the demand, indicating the decision has nothing to do with Al-Ibrahim. Sources hope the Municipal Council will reconsider the decision for public good.
Meanwhile, the Council of Ministers has agreed on Kuwait Bakeries and Flour Mills Company using the former Wholesale Food and Vegetable Market in Shuwaikh for the strategic grain silos.
Sources added the Municipal Council declined the request at a recent meeting which discussed the matter, and rather suggested another place near Mubarak Al-Kabeer.
The Central Tenders Committee (CTC) agreed during its meeting with officials from Ministry of Electricity and Water (MEW) to float a tender to examine the soil for the project of Gas Turbines Station to establish a unit with 450-megawatt capacity, reports Al-Seyassah daily quoting reliable sources.
In another development, Salah Al-Mudhi, the Director General of Environment Public Authority (EPA) announced that the EPA submitted a number of recommendations for solving the problem of used tires.
He said the commendations included the suggestion to establish mobile plants to recycle the tires and the suggestion to allot places for storing the tires temporarily and safely in line with the environmental criteria in this regard.
He assured that EPA will provide all facilities for solving this problem and reducing the negative impact on the environment which affects the health of the citizens and residents.
