KUWAIT CITY, May 15: The Kuwait National Team is going to play against a team that is among the three best teams in the word and we are well prepared for the encounter, though its going to be a friendly, said Kuwait national football team head coach Goran Tufegdzic as he spoke Tuesday at a pre-match press conference at the Regency Hotel for the team’s friendly encounter against Real Madrid on May 16, 2012 at the Kaifan Sport Stadium.
The press conference started at about 7.00 pm shortly after the Real Madrid players arrived in two buses from the Airport to the Regency Hotel to the loud cheers from their numerous fans who had lined up at the hotel entrance to catch a glimpse of the players while they entered the hotel.
Madrid coach Jose Mourinho and captain Iker Casillas represented their side at the press conference table while Jarah the Kuwait National Team captain and coach Tufegdzic represented Kuwait, with Talal Al-Mekhtab, PR Manager for Kuwait Football Association (KFA) moderating.
Kuwait national team head coach Goran Tufegdzic stated that his side is going to play against a team that is among the three best teams in the word, saying that the match will be a big experience for the Kuwait National team players. He added that his team is well prepared for the encounter even though it’s a friendly. He emphasized that it is essential for all players to finish the match without injury to either side. “It is for us a big match and at the same time a friendly one. I hope all spectators enjoy to the fullest the great game of football at its best”, he concluded.
Iker Casilas, Real Madrid captain stated that his team is very proud to be hosted by the Kuwait National Team and they will play in a way to make their numerous fans in Kuwait happy.
Jarah Al-Ateeqi, captain of the Kuwait national team, for his part said the Kuwait national team is honored to be hosting a world class team like Madrid squad in Kuwait for a friendly.
Real Madrid Coach Jose Mourenho, said his side will be playing the Kuwait national team the best way in the best form they can. He added that by playing the best way they can is a way to respect their host, the Kuwait national team.
Coach Mourinho conceded that after many matches, big celebrations, seven hours flight, no training for the last three days, his team is not in the best form and that is worth noting. Every player I brought will take his turn on the pitch for 45 minutes, so fans will have the chance to see every Real Madrid player in action, he said. He stated he will be making eleven changes at halftime in a way that every player plays for 45 minutes and try to play the best we can and give a good match which the fans have been yearning for and of course try to win. It’s very important there should be no injuries or high-risk activity in the match because these players have to play in the Euro as well as the national team. We’d not be happy if somebody comes out with an injury. We are going to give out our best because we don’t know how to play not to win.
