Eateries violating food safety standards in Mahboula shut Campaign launched against businesses selling ‘unfit’ foodstuff
KUWAIT CITY, May 19, (KUNA): The Municipality has intensified its campaign of surprise inspection and search for expired food and products unfit for human consumption, the director general said on Saturday.
Ahmad Al-Sebeeh said in a statement to KUNA that the efforts signal the start of the municipal authorities’ inspection program for the summer season which will cover all the state governorates.
He pointed out the campaign aims to foil any bid to violate relevant laws and legislations and ensure that food products carry necessary specifications for human consumption.
Al-Sebeeh stressed that punitive action will be taken against the violators, lauding efforts of the inspection teams who have been working diligently round the clock. In this regard, Al-Ahmadi Munici-pality has launched a broad inspection campaign in Al-Mahboulah city.
“The inspection resulted in issuing closure orders for two violating restaurants,” Al-Ahmadi Municipality Mishal Aba-Assafi told KUNA. He added that legal action was taken against other 47 violators.
Aba-Assafi revealed that the inspectors were ordered to tighten supervision on food stores, restaurants, factories, cooperative stores and malls to ensure that traders would not promote or trade in inedible products.
