Police officers accused of raping Filipina under probe

KUWAIT CITY, May 22: Two police officers from Jahra Directorate, who were accused of raping a Filipino woman recently, were referred to the Public Prosecution.
In a press statement issued by the Ministry of Interior, the Security Media Department specified that the officers were referred to Public Prosecution as part of the legal procedures carried out by the investigating authorities to identify the circumstances of the case and to issue a verdict accordingly.
Earlier, Al-Rai Arabic daily reported that a Filipino woman, whose identity has not been disclosed, has filed a complaint with the police accusing two policemen of kidnapping and raping her.
In her complaint the victim said she was riding in a taxi with her boyfriend. The policemen stopped the taxi and demanded to check her ID. They accused her of violating residence law and ordered her to get into their vehicle under the pretext of taking her to a police station.
Instead the rapists took her to the water pump station in Jahra and committed the crime.

Insults traded: A Kuwaiti woman, whose identity has not been disclosed, has filed a complaint with the police accusing a citizen of an unidentified GCC state of insulting her, reports Al-Shahed daily.
This happened when the suspect visited a government polyclinic in Sulaibiya. When the suspect went to get medicine the woman requested him to put a KD 1 stamp on the prescription paper and the latter got annoyed and insulted her.
However, when the man was summoned for interrogation he denied the allegation. He told police when the woman asked him to put KD 1 stamp he reminded her that GCC citizens are exempted from the fee.
He added, at this point the woman got angry and flung his ID on the floor. Police are investigating.
