7,272 citations issued, 487 cars seized, 2 people detained GTD weekend campaigns continue
KUWAIT CITY, May 26: Based on directives from the Assistant Undersecretary for Traffic Affairs Major General Dr Mustafa Al-Za’abie, traffic officers registered 7,272 citations, impounded 487 vehicles, and detained 2 people for traffic offences in a nationwide campaign during the weekend.
Statistics indicate that officers issued 1,533 citations and seized 116 vehicles in the Capital Governorate, while 917 citations were recorded in Farwaniya with 29 vehicles towed to the ministry garages.
The campaign in Hawalli led to registration of 2,090 citations and impounding of 107 vehicles, whereas 1,005 citations were issued in Ahmadi where 12 vehicles were also seized. The officers recorded 37 violations and seized 2 vehicles in Mubarak Al-Kabeer, as they recorded 512 violations and impounded 52 vehicles in Jahra.
Meanwhile, officers from the Operations Department issued 908 citations, impounded 167 vehicles and detained 2 people. Traffic officers at the airport also issued 270 citations and seized 2 vehicles.
The traffic data indicates that officers issued 281 citations against the use of mobile phones while driving.
