‘Fun’ but no marriage - ‘Urfi’ cheats woman
KUWAIT CITY, May 29: An unidentified expatriate woman has filed a complaint with the Salmiya Police Station, accusing a Kuwaiti man of cheating her, reports Al-Rai daily.
According to the complainant the suspect after having ‘fun’ with her got married in an ‘urfi’ ceremony and later abandoned her. Urfi marriage is considered illegal in Kuwait. He is now, she said, even refusing to accept her telephone calls.
The complainant also told the police she knew the man for a long time and after they got married he even told her to keep the marriage a secret saying he did not want his first wife to know about this.
Police are looking for the suspect. Meanwhile the woman has been referred to the Criminal Evidences Department.
Meanwhile, a case of fraud and cheating has been filed against a Kuwaiti man who reportedly gave a dud cheque worth KD 10,000 to his relative who had helped him complete a job, reports Al-Rai daily.
The victim has filed the complaint with the Mubarak Al-Kabir police. Police are looking for the suspect.
