Bedouns protest near Taima mosque

KUWAIT CITY, May 30: A number of Bedouns gathered Wednesday near a mosque in Taima to demand for their rights. They raised Kuwaiti flags and placards calling for freedom. A team of security officers later asked the protesters to disperse peacefully.
Sources revealed some Bedouns used the social networking sites like Twitter and Facebook to invite people to a protest action at the Al-Horriya Square in Taima but the necessary security procedures have been taken to avoid any untoward incident.
Sources said security checkpoints were established at the entrance and exit points in the area immediately after the authorities received information on the Bedouns’ plan to hold the demonstration.
Sources added traffic flow in the area was affected due to the presence of several patrol vehicles and establishment of the checkpoints.
