Kuwaiti citizen’s rape sentence commuted to 40 months Acquitted of kidnapping
KUWAIT CITY, June 12: The Court of Appeals presided by Justice Nasser Salem Al-Heid overturned the verdict of a lower court that sentenced a Kuwaiti man to seven years in jail with hard labor and KD 200 fine for suspicion of sentence execution.
The court acquitted the defendant of kidnapping a minor but commuted the sentence to three years and four months for raping the plaintiff.
The case file indicates that the defendant had kidnapped the plaintiff in front of her school in Rabiyah without force, threat or trick. Later, he took the girl to his home in Jahra area where he raped her without force, threat or trick — as indicated by detectives in their investigation.
