‘Subject those coming from vacation to medical checks’ Kuwait’s health team visits patients in Germany
KUWAIT CITY, June 15: The security sources have warned of the outbreak of contagious diseases such as tuberculosis if the Ministry of Health fails to exercise control and implement necessary measures on expatriates particularly maids coming from India, Sri Lanka and Ethiopia after spending their holidays in their home countries, reports Al-Rai daily.
The sources added it is surprising similar checks are not applied on expatriates holding residence under Article 18, because they too are prone to contact such diseases after they return from their holidays.
The daily added some of the sponsors are taken by surprise when they discover they have to do the medical checks for their maids again, while others discover their maids are suffering from contagious diseases after they return from their vacations.
Meanwhile, the Director of Adan Hospital Dr Mubarak Al-Ajmi was recently quoted as saying the inauguration of the Intensive Care Unit building was delayed due ‘non-availability’ of electricity, reports Al-Dar. Moreover, he said the hospital is awaiting the arrival of state-of-the-art medical equipment for wards in the unit.
He added the Ministry of Health has given the nod for the plan to expand the section of the hospital that is dealing accident casualties.
He disclosed the hospital is receiving on a daily basis between 2,000 and 2,500 patients. That is why there is a need to expand that section. Moreover, he said, the number of rooms will be increased in addition to the number of clinics.
Meanwhile, he announced the hospital will soon open a laboratory to cure hearing defects. This is considered the second such facility in Kuwait. The other is the Salem Al-Ali Hearing Center. He pointed out this lab will facilitate for patients who want to diagnose their hearing defects without the need to go to the Salem Al-Ali Center in Sabah area.
In the meantime, a delegation from Kuwait’s Health Office in Germany headed by the office Director Dr Suleiman Al-Harbash accompanied by the Consul-General in Frankfurt Assad Al-Bahr visited Kuwaiti patients receiving treatment in Germany at the Medical Park Sanatorium in Cambridge, reports Al-Qabas daily.
During the visit, the delegation checked on the medical reports of the patients and coordinated with the staff of the sanatorium to find out the requirements of the patients irrespective it is paid for by the patients from their pockets or they received treatment at government expense.
The director of the sanatorium praised the efforts of the delegation which showed much interest in the welfare of the patients.
At the end of the visit the official who is in charge of the Health Office unveiled a plan to follow the condition of Kuwaiti patient receiving treatment in Germany.
